D-GROUPS

WHAT IS A

D-GROUP?

A D-Group, or Discipleship Group, is a small, intentional gathering of individuals focused on spiritual growth and mutual support. The purpose of a D-Group is to foster deeper relationships, encourage accountability, and help members grow in their faith through studying scripture, prayer, and discussing Christian living. These groups often emphasize personal application of biblical teachings and provide a space for members to share their experiences and challenges in their spiritual journeys.

HOW TO . . .

H.E.A.R FROM GOD

The H.E.A.R journaling method promotes reading the Bible with a life-transforming purpose. H.E.A.R stands for Highlight, Explain, Apply, and Respond. Each of these four steps contributes to creating an atmosphere to hear God speak. After settling on a reading plan and establishing a time for studying God’s Word, you will be ready to H.E.A.R. from God.

HIGHLIGHT

Write out the name of the book of the Bible with the chapter and verse numbers that especially speak to you under the letter H in your journal.

EXPLAIN

Explain what you think the author of the text was trying to convey to the original audience under the letter E in your journal.

APPLY

How can you apply this teaching to your own life? Write what God is saying to you under the letter A in your journal.

RESPOND

Respond with a prayer, asking God to help you obey the teaching in your own life under the letter R in your journal.

HERE ARE SOME FAQs ABOUT D-GROUPS

WHAT DOES A D-GROUP LOOK LIKE?

A D-GROUP might look like:

  • Reading through passage of Scripture together. Typically this will be one chapter out of a book of the Bible.

  • Take time to individually journal through that passage using the HEAR method.

  • Discuss your journal and insights, and share how it impacts your life.

  • Pray together.

WHY SHOULD I BE IN A D-GROUP?

We need people in our life that can walk alongside us as we seek to live life according to Scripture. These people hold us accountable, pray for us regularly, and are a part of our community of believers.

HOW DO I START?

Getting started isn’t difficult. You just need to find one or two other people of the same gender that are willing to open up God’s word with you. A D-Group can happen:

  • Anytime: You could meet early in the morning before work, or catchup on you way home from work. It could happen during your lunch hour.

  • Anywhere: A D-Group can happen anywhere that provides an environment to talk easily.

  • Anyone: You can meet with someone from our church, but it’s also a great opportunity to engage your lost friends, neighbors, and co-workers with the gospel of Jesus.

HOW DO I FIND A GROUP?

D-Groups are organic in nature, meaning we don’t have signups for them. You may find natural huddle partners through:

WHAT DO WE STUDY IN MY GROUP?

Start anywhere in Scripture!

  • If you want to learn more about Jesus, go to the Gospel of John.

  • If you desire something practical, head to Proverbs or James.

  • Acts is a great place to start to see the church in action.

  • Ephesians or Colossians are great places to start in Paul’s letters.

  • Follow along with our year long Bible reading plan that we are going through as a church
